Poor hubby. he is the most generous soul on the planet--except to himself. After not batting an eyelash paying 350 to fix my car again, he agonized over his workboots. Every three or four years, he has to replace the steel-toed boots he wears in the chemical plant after they give up the ghost. He even went and scouted them out and found a sale, but couldn't buy them. I actually have to go with him to pay for them. I talked him into a little more expensive pair that has better fit and a better heel for climbing all that equipment he has to inspect. Then I paid for them. I got an idea from you guys. If I took an envelope, labeled it workboots and put one dollar a week into it, he'll have more than enough money in three years to pay outright for it. I stuck the envelope on the picture board near my computer. He looked at me funny, but then the light bulb went off over his head. This just might work folks. Thanks guys!

I've been lurking about for a few days and I love this place. Since getting clobbered by Hurricane Rita last year, I lurked on a weather website for the summer and they spent a lot of time sniping at each other. This place is so supportive and fun. I finally decided to join in.
I come from very frugal parents, but I either didn't get the lessons well or didn't get the gene. So I find myself in a big hole. Looking for info, i found this website and have already had so much fun reading the tips and daily triumphs and mishaps. When I found myself constantly saying, "been there" I decided this is for me. Looking forward to spending time with you.

I never realized this until I was trying to make sure everything was planned out. And realized my life from Thanksgiving to early January. Tune is to the Twelve Days of Christmas....
In this Holiday season, my true love gave to me....
Five wonderful birthdays!
Four out of town trips
Three holidays
Two anniversaries (one a 50th!)
And a Masters College Graduation!
No wonder I blew a fuse. Actually, they told me I had what is called a hypomanic episode. I went about 36 hours on about an hour and a half sleep. Normally, I would have been a zombie with no sleep. But, I was tugging things around in the attic and doing things around the house. And I would alternate between being okay and then being really angry. It was definitely weird. The professionals want to put me on another med to help episodes not be so extreme. I was terrified of the meds though, because I was informed that they can have serious side effects. Like life threatening stuff. So, today I got to talk with someone who knows more and was able to reassure me about the meds. I will start with a miniscule amount in January. Thank you to Miclason and Lux for your kind thoughts. I appreciated them so much. And to all who sent happy thoughts my way. I am fine now, and definitely more aware...
DD's schedule shifted a bit, and I got to spend a few days with her before she left on her trip. It was a wonderful mom/daughter time. I love those.
Hubby is having an MRI tomorrow. Something is wrong with his neck. He got rear ended on the freeway years ago and I am wondering if there was an injury that is making itself felt with the addition of age. Since he went with me during the cyst/mammogram/ultrasound scare a couple of years ago, I am going along to hand hold. It is one of those things that you need to know what is going on, but you sincerely hope it is easily treated without surgery. That is scary when you are dealing with spines and bones and such. Or any surgery for that matter. We're hoping for the best.
I keep thinking I've got a handle on Christmas, but then something comes up. Something is left out of a shipment or something. Definitely going to start a month earlier next year. I can't believe I am going to have to go shopping for one or two more gifts. Something I was going to give to someone is being given by someone else. I'm back to square one on him. Oh well, it is a challenge. Should be interesting in the last days of the shopping season. I mailed a box today and the last gift for that family arrived thirty minutes after I got home. It had been back ordered. This will be funny one day...
I plan to sit down and read the entries and catch up on everyone. Hope all are having a good holiday season. My favorite part is the days leading up to it all. It just seems so magical....
