Paperwork Limbo.....

February 7th, 2008 at 08:39 pm

We're having trouble getting the complete package of paperwork from the doc in the Big City so that Hubby can start working from home next week. We've been working on this for a week. Without it, he goes to 60 percent pay next week. I've been working on ways to cut out things so that we can live on almost half our income. Of course, I won't be putting the almost 10 percent in savings this month. And there are several places where we can cut monies out. All our entertainment budget can be cut. We don't use much of our clothing allowance most months. The whole thing can be saved. And this month, I've saved almost a quarter of our food budget, so we can do that again. No gas, except for trip to Big City to see the doc in a couple of weeks. Hopefully, by that time we can take the papers with us and get his John Hancock right away. I don't want to worry DD, so I won't tell her and I'll keep her monies for school up to date. And pay the bills. If I hadn't been using everyone's advice from the blogs, I would be in a world of hurt. I panicked for a few hours. Then, I sat down and made a plan. Next, I'll make some menus. And turn off all the lights.....

You are doing great! It sounds as if by having savings, having a budget, and knowing where you can cut back, your family is going to sail through just fine. I'll bet it is a tremendous help to your husband knowing how you are handling everything! Who knows --- The lack of stress (from not having to worry too much about finances) might even speed his recovery!

You are doing great JanH! I know how much help this website has been for me. Learning to pay attention to my finances everyday even the little things has certainly changed our fiscal fitness for the better as well.
Hope your husband's recovery goes well.
Sure hope the paperwork goes through okay.
