Outflow.....

I think we have achieved a milestone. There is more Stuff going out of this house than coming in. Things are flowing out, and we aren't buying more to bring in. It wasn't very noticeable until after the holidays with all the presents and food and things you buy then. And we aren't counting DD's household, just this one. We are concentrating on using up Stuff. And limiting buying Stuff. And having Stuff leave if we buy something to bring in. And getting rid of Stuff we already have. It's pretty easy for Hubby. He doesn't need any Stuff. But I liked Stuff. Until it was too much. Until it was evident that it was using money that I could save. Until I realized that I didn't need a lot of this Stuff anymore. Actually, I'm really excited! Goodbye, Stuff. Hello, bank account!

    I like something that the FlyLady from FlyLady.net advises. She says to throw out 27 things everyday. In the beginning, I didn't get it, but I get it now and its results. I've been doing this everyday now and it gets the job done. It doesn't matter whether it's newspapers, pieces of paper, mail, clothing to donate or sell, coupons, etc. It's just amazing how after a while you have to start looking for the 21st thing up until 27 and it's just a motivator, but it becomes fun. Sometimes, I have had some item that came in the mail that I have meant to read or an article put to the side to read. This motivator causes me to get rid of more stuff. It even goes as far as checking your med cabinet and disposing of outdated bottle or your makeup as well.

    Your post was enlightening and I think you're doing a great job.
